British Columbia
19 or older
Provincial gaming areas are restricted to adults aged 19+. Current law requires the age restriction to be displayed at public entrances to gaming areas.
Québec
18 or older
Loto-Québec casinos restrict entry to visitors aged 18+. Anyone who appears younger may be asked for government-issued photo identification.
Bring valid government-issued identification and follow the rules posted by the property. Entry requirements and access routes can change.
Make the boundary part of the itinerary
- Choose whether to enter at all. A casino is not required to make use of the hotel, landscape, restaurant or wellness facilities.
- Set a firm spending limit. Use only discretionary money that is not needed for travel, housing, food, debt or savings.
- Set an end time. Plan what comes next—a meal, walk or return to the room—so the session has a clear edge.
- Do not chase a loss. Every outcome remains uncertain. A previous loss does not make a future win more likely.
- Avoid borrowing and limit access to funds. Leave extra cards behind if that makes the boundary easier to keep.
- Step away if judgment is affected. Fatigue, alcohol, cannabis, distress and urgency can all make a planned limit harder to follow.
Canada’s Lower-Risk Gambling Guidelines provide evidence-informed limits for adults who choose to gamble. Lower risk does not mean no risk, and choosing not to gamble is always a valid option.
